Technology Workshop "Launching the Technology Partnership for SIRS"

The Crisis Management Initiative organised a follow-up technology workshop “Launching the Technology Partnership for the Safety Information Reporting Service (SIRS) ” on Tuesday, 14 March 2006 in Espoo, Finland. The meeting resulted in the agreement of partnership with private sector ICT companies. The participating companies were IBM, Nokia, ESRI, TeliaSonera, Insta, Ericsson and Satama Interactive.

The technology workshop results from the outcomes of the 2005 Information Technology and Crisis Management (ITCM) Conference where the SIRS concept was introduced to a wider audience of security management experts, field practitioners and headquarters staff.

The technology workshop aimed at developing and piloting the SIRS system. CMI and the vendors agreed on joint timeline for 2006.
